Day 41 AM – 300 Steps to Greatness

Sometimes in our quest to fulfill our life dreams we become obsessed with money.  I’m talking about the worry that comes from knowing the rent or mortgage is due.  I know that dreaded fear that hits you in the bottom of your stomach so hard that you can’t breathe, and your ONLY thought is “where is the money coming from?”  That’s something that freelancers commonly live with.

Today, I want to encourage you to forget about the money.

The purpose of the “300 Steps to Greatness” Challenge is to encourage you to pursue your life’s passions.  Unfortunately, not all of us will become millionaires from doing so.

We can’t be so focused on making money to get out of debt, to go on vacation, to buy that dream home, that the money becomes the focus.

Forget about the money.

When you look at wealthy people such as Oprah, Steven Spielberg, John Grisham, Bill Gates, Tyler Perry and Mark Zuckerberg none of them entered into their craft solely”to get rich”.  Their wealth was actually a by-product of their hard work.

There are other talk show hosts, film producers, authors and technological geniuses walking the same ground as those mentioned above. I’d venture to say that some of those people are saying “if I had the money and opportunity”, I’d be next.

The only place that money comes before work is in the dictionary.

And while we are able to look at the fruits of their labor, what sacrifices did they have to make along the way?

Tyler Perry slept in his car.  No matter how you feel about him or his work, one thing is certain:  he took a risk and it paid off.

He forgot about the money.  As much as HE needed money he had F.ull A.ssurance I.n T.he H.eart (FAITH) that he was doing what he was supposed to do.  He was homeless and spent his LAST on getting “Madea” on stage.

Too many times people have a television show idea, a book idea and think “this is the big one.”  There is an allure to the entertainment industry and people only see the “glamorous” side, without realizing how much work is really involved.

Trust me, watching television makes you no more of a producer with knowledge about the television industry, than does reading a book make you an author.

When I worked on The Celebrity Apprentice, I worked as a production assistant – not my usual job.  However, I love production so much, that I forgot about the money.  Just to give you a reality check into the life of television production, check out this post by a production assistant.  Long days and not much money at all – far less than MOST people would work for.

So, I say to you today, forget about the money.

Be creative and create.

Let the money come to you.

You will be glad you did.

  1. We attract what we think about. If we think about lack that is what will come and manifest itself. When we are in a state of peace, and joy and the desire of allowing that is when we manifest and knowing that our needs are always met.
Ever notice the midnight hour demonstration . We have all had this one. When the electricity is about to be shut off and its winter, and a way is always made. Just take a minute and think about all of the time, we have all had this happen.
Better yet sit down with paper and a pen and really think about all of those close money calls, and most of the time in your reflection you will see that a way has been made. Let’s do our best to uplift each other to this truth. Knowing that allowing happens when we let it.
    Peace and Blessings

    • Thanks for sharing your thoughts Dawyn. As soon as I can sit down, I will view the link you graciously sent. I love “Knowing that allowing happens when we let it.” so very true!
